History
Courses with Canadian content have been offered since 1996. Károli Canada Center was
founded in 2001. A year later, the English Department launched its North-American
Specialization Program. Courses in Canadian Studies formed one of the four blocks of this
program.

With the introduction of the Bologna system in 2005, Canadian courses became a component
of the Literature and Culture Specialization of the BA English major program, which English
minors can also take. Since 2014, the 50-credit North-American Specialization module has
also been available for BA students. The current two-cycle MA in Teacher Training has two
Canadian Studies courses as well.
