Canada: Current and Future Challenges

CALL FOR PAPERS
Eötvös Loránd University and Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary are pleased to announce a conference on “Canada: Current and Future Challenges” to be held in Budapest, Hungary, on November 23-24, 2023. The Conference Organizing Committee welcomes papers in English or French on the following themes:

– plurality
– diversity
– immigration/migration
– multiculturalism
– transculturalism
– crossing physical, ethnocultural and emotional borders
– literature and the fine arts
– politics
– education
– artificial intelligence
– indigenous perspectives
– the Arctic
– trade agreements (CETA)
– environmental stewardship
– issues of energy
– open government
– identities and stereotypes
– nationalism
– citizenship
– sports
– aging
– the young

The keynote lecture will be delivered by Don Sparling (Masaryk University). The intended program will also feature multiple thematic sessions as well as a teacher training event & a student workshop.

Presentations should be 20 minutes long. Undergraduate and graduate students will have their separate sessions with the opportunity of delivering 10-minute papers. Following the presentations, each panel will feature a Q&A session.

Abstracts of papers (maximum 250 words) and a one-paragraph CV for those planning to deliver papers should be submitted by e-mail to the organizers at deak.timea@kre.hu and karoli.canada@gmail.com by October 15, 2023. Participants will be notified of the acceptance of their paper proposals by October 22, 2023.

Conference participation is free but delivering a paper is subject to the approval of one’s abstract. A selection of essays will be published in a volume devoted to the theme of the conference.
